Why Hooka’(er)

Why Hooka’ well because I am from Maine, so we add ah to everything. My best friend Rosa has call me this for years. I am alway hooking. Crocheting something or hook in the hair. I would hook any where classes, bus and the bar. Anytime watching tv and football. The nickname really picked up when John started calling me it. We would be Isles a way in the store and he would yell out Hooka’(er) and I would answer back yes hun. The look on people’s face was priceless.

May 9, 2018 was the beginning and the end

Just writing this is causing me to shake. 💥trigger warnings💥

It was a Wednesday, I left work early because John wasn’t feeling that great. Got home about 330 we made are plans for the night. I was going to stay home finish up our wedding plans. while John took the car to get soda, pizza and check in with Cory’s. Just before 4. I got my work done and booked our canoe for the river trip wedding. Check in with Rosa (one of my best friends) to make sure she was still coming down for the weekend. Then I got some texts from Johns nephew say that John still hadn’t come pick up the pizza. It had been a few hour and John said he was going to be Quick. Which sometimes quick can be hours. That my John. I texted for a few hours with no answer which was not like John at all. The car was low on gas so I thought he might have ran out and was chilling at Cory’s watching the Red Sox Yankee’s game. I talked to Cory and said John had not been there let. So, around 930 I set out walking to see if I could find the car. Grab my umbrella and started walking to town. I remember how somber the walk was in the rain. I love walking in the rain. I got by all the fast food stores and looked everywhere to see if the car was there. I didn’t find it until I got to Hannaford. I didn’t have my glasses on so it was hard to tell if it was our car but it was the only one in the parking lots. So as I was walking up to the car I could see John’s in the window. Figure he was still talking on the phone. As I got to the car and I could tell instantly to he was dead. My world shattered. I went from planning a wedding to planing a funeral.
